Expenditure of Annual Dues

All the areas owned and maintained by the HWIA require considerable care and maintenance, which comes at a cost. The majority of the annual budget of the HWIA goes towards maintenance of the common areas and pond water management.  Funds are also allocated to new tree and shrub planting. Best efforts are made to control algae growth in the ponds; however, shallow depth and freshwater intake promote conditions that can produce excessive weed and algae growth. Special pond treatments are focused May through October each fiscal year.  In addition to the pond and park costs there are other expenses incurred such as liability insurance, mailing costs, electricity expenses for pond aerators and lighting at the entrances, infrastructure repairs and improvements as needed, and professional fees. All board members of the HWIA are strictly volunteers performing a civic duty and are not paid for their time and effort.  A capital reserve is also maintained to cover unforeseen expenses not anticipated within any given current fiscal year budget. Annual dues invoices are mailed to homeowners in May of each year to cover these costs. This collection is currently done via mail, but we are hoping to implement on-line payment access in the near future.

All dues are to be paid by July 15 of the current year as detailed in the annual dues mailing. Please note the following:

 ·   Payments not made within 30 days after the due date will be considered late.

·   A 15% late charge will be applied to unpaid dues balances.

All unpaid members may be subject to additional administrative and legal fees and can also be subject to having a lien filed on their property.
